National Copyright Administration Rewarded 169 Anti-piracy Hero with RMB 4.93 Million

To further mobilize the enthusiasm and initiative of the administrative department to investigate and punish activities of infringement and piracy, to create atmosphere of encouraging invention, effective use, legislative protection and scientific management, the State Copyright Bureau recently decided to reward the 169 anti-piracy units and 173 individuals who made outstanding contribution to the investigation of anti-piracy to coordinate with the work of the Public Security Bureau of Hefei City of Anhui Province in 2009.  The award-winning unit covers all levels of law enforcement agencies, the press and publication rights, "anti-vice fighting ", public security, telecommunications, customs, culture, and publication market supervision which is closely related to and administrative enforcement department of Copyright.  The total prize was 4.931 million yuan.  It is understood that this is the third major recognition awards event of the National Copyright Administration since 2008 to reward and encourage to anti-piracy units and individuals.

The officials of National Copyright Administration stressed that the selection for the expansion of the impact of this activity, encouraging the advanced, and using it as an opportunity to enhance copyright protection and advocacy, we should strengthen local copyright enforcement through case study and advertisement, improve the level of grass-root copyright enforcement, and promote copyright protection.  The State Copyright Bureau will reward the anti-piracy organizations and individuals with typical concentration of propaganda in the mass media, to expand copyright law enforcement, social influence and power.  In 2010, the State Copyright Bureau will reward more units and individuals to encourage people to fight against piracy of audiovisual products, and to award case detection and investigation.
